THIS ARTICLE IS A PREDICTION:

Kalen DeBoer’s spot at Alabama is starting to heat up after a 24-3 loss. That’s not the standard for the Crimson Tide, and while an 8-3 record is good for some teams, it’s not enough after the Nick Saban years. DeBoer gets a pass since it’s his first season, but his second season will be crucial for the team’s improvement, and the deciding factor is the quarterback position.

Jalen Milroe is currently the Crimson Tide’s quarterback and his weaknesses are holding the team back massively. DeBoer has a great offensive plan that took full advantage of Michael Penix Jr. in Washington. Still, Milroe struggled to produce consistently due to inconsistent mechanics that led to accuracy issues. His ability to read the subject is not particularly good and he all too often has difficulty going through his progress and makes incorrect readings. His release is also slow, which causes him to slow down the offense by not anticipating throws and missing the timing on routes.

The ideal quarterback for Alabama to save its future is the Texas Longhorns’ current backup quarterback, Arch Manning.

Yes, that Manning, the nephew of Eli and Peyton Manning. Even if there was an open path for Manning to become the starting quarterback for Texas following Ewers’ departure in the 2025 NFL Draft, it would not be wise for Manning to stay there. Currently, Ewers’ draft stock is declining as the offense prevents quarterbacks from fully utilizing their talents. Once Manning was actually in the starting lineup, he proved he had better command of the offense, and yet Texas still chose Ewers, who limited the offense’s scope. This has to be an eye-opener for Manning and a key factor in his transfer.

When Manning started in place of the injured Ewers, he threw for 939 yards and nine touchdowns with just two interceptions for a 67.8% completion rate. In addition, Manning demonstrated his rushing abilities with 81 yards and three touchdowns. He showcased a quick release that was often noticed as it made Manning a natural passer. Not to mention, he can maneuver well in the pocket by feeling the pressure and can also use his legs to pick up yards when needed.

Alabama was a top school that Manning considered coming out of high school, and he may have a chance to turn the program around and fully bring them back to their level. In DeBoer’s plan, Manning is the ideal quarterback and DeBoer is the perfect head coach to maximize Manning’s potential. Alabama is likely to be Manning’s top transfer destination, and he is the only quarterback who can save DeBoer’s job.
