College Football Week 13 Recap – Rivalry Week Outlook

The No. 5 team in the CFP rankings lost by 23 points (albeit to the No. 2 team) to start the weekend. #7 and #9 both lost to 5-5 opponents and #7 was eliminated. No. 15 and No. 16 lost to 4-6 opponents and No. 12 almost lost to a 2-8 opponent. No. 14 almost came back from a 21-0 deficit (and almost completed the funniest Hail Mary ever), but didn’t make it.

On the 13th official Saturday of the 2024 season, college football lost its mind.

Granted, the season’s two biggest prospects, Indiana and Army, took nasty roundhouse rights from two of the best (and meanest) teams in the country, but nothing else really made sense on Saturday. The chaos made some complicated title races easier — for example, Georgia clinched a spot in the SEC championship game by simply staying quiet and beating UMass (and, to be fair, giving up a few too many rushing yards in the process) while everyone else stumbled . But other races are difficult to decipher. Case in point: There’s still an eight-way tie between the Big 12.

It’s the curse of November that so many chaotic, chaotic, and incredibly important things happen, and instead of basking in it, we need to move on immediately and prepare for the next round of chaos. The main task of Week 13 was to set the table for Rivalry Week, which will give us countless games and storylines to follow. And because of Thanksgiving, we have less time than usual to prepare.
