Everything we know about Tim Allen’s new show Shifting Gears

With the coming new year comes a new show from Tim Allen.

Changing gears is set to premiere in early 2025, with the veteran actor in the lead role 2 broke girls Starring: Kat Dennings.

The new sitcom was greenlit after ABC ordered a pilot in spring 2024. It’s been almost three years since Allen joined the series for nine seasons Last man standingbut he remains busy with his work on Disney’s The Santas.

Allen became a household name through his time as Tim “the Tool Man” Taylor DIYerwhich ran from 1991-1999.

what is Changing gears Um?

Changing gears finds Allen in a familiar role: playing a father named Matt who has a passion for cars. He is a widower and the owner of a shop that restores vintage cars. His life is turned upside down when his estranged daughter Riley (Dennings) shows up looking for a place to stay while she has to reorganize her life. Her two children are with her.

Who is there? Changing gears?

Allen plays the lead role Changing gears with Dennings (2 broke girls, WandaVision, Doll face). Maxwell Simkins and Barrett Margolis play Riley’s teenage children, Carter and Georgia.

The cast list also features Daryl Mitchell (10 things I hate about you, Galaxy Quest) and Seann William Scott (American cake, Dukes of Hazzard) takes on the roles of Ed and Gabriel respectively. Details about these characters have yet to be revealed.

Changing gears is scheduled to premiere on ABC on Wednesday, January 8th. Fans can watch live every Wednesday at 8:00 pm ET on ABC TV or stream the show on Hulu.
