OKC Thunder forward eliminated against Warriors

Thunder forward Jalen Williams left the Oklahoma City Thunder’s 105-101 win over the Warriors at Chase Center on Wednesday night after suffering a right eye injury in the second quarter.

Late in the first half, Williams was shaken after being hit in the right eye by Warriors forward Jonathan Kuminga during a dunk attempt. Williams curled up on the floor and lay on the floor for several moments as trainers surrounded him. Eventually he was helped to the locker room.

“I don’t have an update on that and I’ll leave it at that for now,” coach Mark Daigneault said when asked for an update after the game.

After the win, Williams appeared to be in his typically cheerful mood. He left the Chase Center on Wednesday without an eye patch or aid for his eyes. Shortly after the game, he offered his own update via Instagram.

It’s unclear whether the Thunder will take additional precautions given Williams’ injury. Should he miss time, Williams would be the seventh OKC player to miss the season due to injury.

In just 16 minutes of play Wednesday in San Francisco, Williams approached a triple-double with 13 points, seven assists and six rebounds. Entering the game, Williams was averaging 21.6 points, 6.4 rebounds and 5.3 assists – all career highs.
