SAN JOSE, California – Nick Nash set a new SJSU record for touchdown receptions in a season with two touchdown catches, leading San Jose State football (7-5, 3-4 MW) to a 34-31 victory over Stanford (3-9 , 2-6 ACC) in the Bill Walsh Legacy Game presented by Webcor on Friday afternoon at CEFCU Stadium.

  • This was the Spartans’ first win against Stanford since 2006 and their first win against an ACC school.
  • This win is SJSU’s first against a Power Four school since September 21, 2019 against Arkansas.
  • The Spartans finish the regular season at home at 5-2.
  • The Spartans had 19,117 spectators, which is the second most this season.
  • This is the first time since 1980-82 that the Spartans have had seven or more wins in three consecutive seasons and the first time since 1978-82 that they have had seven or more wins in four of five years.
  • Nash’s second touchdown catch of the game set an SJSU all-time record for touchdown receptions in a single season with 16, passing Chandler Jones, who previously held the record with 15.
  • Nash would finish with eight receptions for 91 yards and two touchdown receptions.
  • Nash’s two touchdown catches now give him 16 for the season and 25 for his career.
  • Nash is now three touchdown receptions away from Chandler Jones’ SJSU record for most career touchdown receptions.

  • Kyler Halvorsen’s 45-yard field goal to end the first half is a career milestone for the senior.
  • Halvorsen’s 45-yard field goal is the longest field goal since Oct. 15, 2021, when Matt Mercurio hit a 48-yarder against No. 24 SDSU.
  • Halvorsen’s 4-for-4 extra points now give him 79 consecutive extra points, which is an SJSU record.
  • Taniela Latu led the Spartans’ defense with eight total tackles, including a solo tackle in the game.
  • Robert Rahimi finished the game with five total tackles, including a solo tackle, a pass breakup and an interception.
  • Rahimi’s interception in the first quarter was his fifth of the season and the 11th of his career.
  • Rahimi is now tied for the lead in the Mountain West in interceptions and third nationally.
  • DJ Harvey finished the game with seven total tackles, including six solo tackles, one tackle for loss and one interception.
  • Harvey’s interception in the second quarter is his fourth of the season and his fourth of his career.
  • Isiah Revis would finish with seven total tackles, including five solo tackles, two tackles for loss and one interception.
  • Revis’s two tackles for loss represented a new career high.
  • Revis’ interception in the fourth quarter to give SJSU the ball back with two minutes left is the second of the season and his career.
  • Revis was intercepted on two consecutive plays.
  • The three teams the Spartans pick in this game give them 20 interceptions this season, which leads the nation.
  • Jalen Apalit-Williams recorded his first career sack in the third quarter.
