Kentucky goes with a 4-7 record and even with a win they will miss the postseason this year. Louisville, on the other hand, boasts a 7-4 record and picked up a win over Pittsburgh on Senior Day. While Louisville’s chances of making the 12-team College Football Playoff were slim before the loss at Stanford, they all but vanished afterward. But Louisville will fight to end its losing streak against Kentucky and position itself for a better bowl game. UK has had a tumultuous season, from a narrow win over No. 1 Georgia to a win over No. 6 Ole Miss to a four-game losing streak; The Wildcats fought. Kentucky’s hopes of reaching a bowl game were dashed last weekend after a loss to No. 3 Texas, so this weekend they will fight to keep their winning streak alive and be proud of it. Louisville has been a bit lopsided this season in terms of its offense bearing the brunt while its defense barely scraped by. The Cardinals will face a Kentucky defense that ranks 37th in total defense and has been the only constant for UK. With just 332 yards per game and 25 touchdowns, Kentucky’s defense has been a difference maker this season. UofL ranks 15th in total offense this season, averaging 453 yards per game and 46 touchdowns. Louisville knows how to put points on the board, which could be a recipe for success against UK, which has struggled on offense all season. While Kentucky’s offense isn’t a poser, even though Louisville is a major threat, its defense has been a weak spot for the Cardinals. UofL will see a fairly new quarterback when Cutter Boley lines up behind center for the Wildcats on Saturday. The freshman quarterback played the most snaps against Texas, his first significant snaps of the season, with throws for 160 yards and an interception.
